About Andrew Vaughan

Andrew Vaughan is a widely respected senior criminal defence lawyer with an accomplished record of success before Judges and juries all over southern Ontario.

Andrew Vaughan’s law practice is directed to the defence of individual clients in criminal and regulatory litigation. He has extensive experience successfully conducting a multitude of trials, motions, bail hearings and complex litigation at every level of court in Ontario.

A graduate of Queen’s University Law School, one of the country’s leading law faculties, Andrew was a partner for almost a decade at Hall and Vaughan ‐ a boutique criminal defence firm that he established with Aston J. Hall (now the Associate Chief Justice of the Ontario Court of Justice). He opened Andrew Vaughan Criminal Law Office in 2010.

Over the last two decades, Andrew has successfully defended almost every type of criminal charge including domestic assaults, sexual assaults, frauds, narcotics offences and several murders. Andrew has developed a special proficiency defending individuals charged with firearms offences, controlled drug offences, domestic assault and sexual assault.  He is a skilled, discrete and thorough professional ready to guide his clients through what is often one of the most difficult situations in their lives. His individual clients come from all walks of life. Andrew’s clients have included professionals, first responders, youthful offenders and a wide variety of men and women for whom a criminal or regulatory investigation, prosecution or conviction may jeopardize their employment, ability to travel and their professional and personal reputations.

The majority of Andrew’s clientele is in Greater Toronto, however, he regularly conducts bail hearings, preliminary hearings and trials throughout Ontario, including Peel Region, York Region, Halton Region, Barrie, Hamilton, Guelph, Kitchener‐Waterloo, and Kingston.

Andrew is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Criminal Lawyers Association, The Toronto Lawyers Association, and the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers. Andrew also sits on the board of AlphaPlus, an Ontario organization focused on helping adult literacy education professionals to incorporate digital technology.
